New Zealand's Luxury Lodges and Premium Properties are ideal destinations for a special occasion or a weekend away. Although they offer world leading quality, here are some tips for the current travel environment.
One of the interesting challenges we have found when working on New Zealand holidays that include New Zealand's luxury and premium properties is the limited availability in the current environment.
Although, as expected, there has been a significant drop in demand due to the quarantine measures and border closures, many properties have cut costs by only opening on certain days (Friday and Saturday nights for example), closing for an extended period (we know of at least one that is closing for all of July), or pivoting to only open the restaurant and not take guests.
So if you have a special event or a winter escape, or a larger event where you'd like to take extended family, it is still important to plan ahead.
Beyond the many big name properties that make the news, New Zealand has a remarkable collection of high quality boutique properties. These bed and breakfast and sole use homes can provide an exceptional "home away from home" experience as an alternative to the luxury lodges.
If you're looking for somewhere special, it doesn't only need to be a luxury lodge - alternative high quality properties are available.
Our help with planning a weekend away or a special occasion can extend to more than just the accommodation. We've worked with properties and wholesalers to arrange private chefs, birthday cakes and babysitters. If it will help take something off your to-do list, don't be afraid to ask.
If you've heard through the grapevine that a particular property is a "bit tired" and in need of a refresh - be sure to ask the question. Through our network of specialist wholesalers we can provide impartial feedback based on recent experience.
For various properties we are seeing "Stay Pay Specials" that many readers will be familiar with. Stay 4 nights and pay for 3 nights or packaged specials with inclusions can all add value when planning.
Fine Travel works directly with New Zealand's luxury and premium properties, and through specialist wholesalers who have years of experience (and bargaining power). If you have a number of properties that you're considering, let us know and we can provide pricing, availability and the latest special offers.
