South Africa is a destination on many people's bucket lists - and it's not hard to understand why. With so much to see and such geographic and cultural diversity, a South African holiday is best planned with the benefit of local knowledge and expertise.

In association with our specialist wholesale partner World Journeys, here's an overview of one of the most popular South African itineraries taking adventurous travellers through beautiful Cape Town, on a Kruger National Park safari and to the magnificent Victoria Falls. Time to get excited about recognising your dream of visiting South Africa!

Overview

On this South African itinerary you will explore some of the best sights South Africa has to offer. Experience Cape Town, the ‘Mother City’ and the world renowned Kruger National Park, home to Africa’s iconic safari species—elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino, buffalo, giraffe, hippo and zebra. The diversity and sheer numbers of animals is almost unparalleled. Finish your safari visiting one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the stunning Victoria Falls.

Cape Town

Explore this buzzing cosmopolitan city with its colourful influences—Cape Dutch, French Huguenot, Malay and the indigenous Khoi-San people.

Our recommended itinerary includes a half day city highlights tour and Table Mountain excursion. Weather permitting, take the circular rotating floor cable car to the top of the mountain for spectacular views! The next day enjoy a full day guided tour to the beautiful Cape Point Peninsula which is the ‘meeting point of two oceans’.

Kruger National Park Safari

Explore Kruger National Park, where the diversity and sheer numbers of animals is almost unparalleled. Enjoy morning and evening game drives in search of elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino, buffalo, giraffe, hippo and zebra. Explore the National Park on shared safaris within private concessions.

Victoria Falls

Enjoy a guided tour of the Falls—marvel at its cascading, thunderous sheets of water! ere is plenty of time at leisure for optional activities such as a bungy jump, Zambezi cruise or helicopter flight.

Our recommendations for planning your African itinerary

Unless you have plenty of time we suggest visiting one or two countries and exploring them well, so take into consideration the following when planning the journey:

  • How long do you have?
  • What are you hoping to see and experience?
  • What standard of accommodation do you want?
  • What is your anticipated budget?

South African Visa Requirements

New Zealand passport holders are required to obtain a visa before travelling to South Africa.  There are also strict requirements related to travelling with children.

Your Fine Travel Consultant can guide you through these requirements.
